Kelmis owes its name to calamine — the zinc ore of the Altenberg that built the Vieille Montagne company and made this place the heart of Neutral Moresnet, the territory left in limbo between neighbouring states from 1816 to 1919. The mine is long closed. What remains is a German-speaking border municipality in the Göhl valley — Kelmis, Hergenrath and Neu-Moresnet — where many people commute to Aachen and where trades, retail, construction, care homes and schools carry the local economy. There is no film studio here, so we come to you: EchoLab brings cameras, sound and lighting to your office, workshop or club hall and records on the spot. We film in all three parts of the commune: the centre of Kelmis around the church, the town hall and the shopping street; Neu-Moresnet, home to the Vieille Montagne museum with its Neutral Moresnet story and the zinc flora of the old mining ground; and the more village-like Hergenrath along the Göhl. Shops, workshops, practices, schools and club houses all work — the room does not need to be pretty, we bring the light and the sound.

Can we record in German, and in French as well?
Of course. Kelmis belongs to the German-speaking Community and German is the everyday language, so that is usually the language of the shoot. For audiences in Liège, Flanders or abroad we can record the same session in French, Dutch or English, and subtitles are handled in post-production.
Our company in Kelmis is small — is a video podcast worth it?

What do I leave with?
It depends on the package. A turnkey podcast includes the edited 16:9 video, the audio file and 5 vertical clips for social. We agree the delivery timeline with you when we plan the shoot.
Do I own the footage and files?
Yes, outright. Raw footage is available on request.
